Envite ("Envite," "we," "us") helps people find and RSVP to events happening in New York City. This policy explains what information we collect through the Envite app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
By using Envite, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
You can create an account with an email and password, or sign in with Apple or Google. With Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (and, for Google, your profile photo) and never see your Apple or Google password. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your real one. We also record when you agreed to this policy and which version it was.
With your permission, we use your device's location to show you events happening nearby and to power the map view. You can allow, deny, or later revoke this in your device's Settings — Envite still works without it, using New York City as a general default.
If you choose to add an event to your calendar, Envite requests permission to write that single event to your device calendar. We don't read your existing calendar entries.
If you choose to use friends, you create a profile with your first name, last initial, and a username. That profile is visible to other signed-in Envite users, so friends can find you by username or invite link — your email and everything else stay private. Friendships require both people to accept. Friends can see the events you've marked Going; events you're Interested in are never shared. You can remove or block a friend at any time from the Friends screen, and blocking stops them from sending you requests.
If you allow notifications, Envite can remind you before events you've saved — these reminders are scheduled on your device and never leave it. If you're signed in, we also store a notification token for your device on your account, so we can send an occasional roundup of upcoming events. You can turn either off under My Events, or turn off notifications for Envite entirely in your device's Settings.
Submitted events are reviewed before appearing publicly in the app. Your RSVP status is stored so you can see it under My Events. It's never shown publicly — only events you mark Going are shared, and only with friends you've accepted (see below). Events you hide are stored on your account so they stay hidden across devices. Reports are seen only by our team, to review the listing.
Our backend provider (Firebase, part of Google Cloud) automatically logs basic technical information — like app version, device type, and crash reports — to help us keep the app running reliably.
To understand how Envite is used and what to improve, we record how you interact with the app — for example, which screens you open, which events you view, save, share, or add to your calendar, what you search for, and which categories you filter by — along with basic device information like model, operating system, and app version. If you're signed in, this is linked to an internal account ID, never to your name or email. We use PostHog to process this data. You can turn it off at any time under My Events → Share anonymous usage data.
We do not use your information to serve you third-party ads, and we do not sell your personal information.
We keep your account information and RSVP history for as long as your account is active, so the app can show you your own history and preferences.
You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app, under My Events → Delete Account. This removes your account record, your RSVPs, and your profile information from our systems. Events you submitted that have already been published may remain, with your personal identifying information removed.
Envite is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
We use industry-standard measures — including those provided by Google Firebase — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy as Envite changes. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
